After 11 months without a Service Board, the Nyamira County Public Service Board (NCPSB) has finally been sworn in.

The swearing-in ceremony was conducted by Nyamira’s Chief Magistrate, Benard Ochieng’, and presided over by Nyamira Governor Amos Nyaribo.

Addressing the new Board, Governor Nyaribo congratulated the appointees, lauding their selection and urging them to strictly adhere to constitutional requirements while upholding the highest levels of integrity.

“There were many applicants for these positions but the select committee considered regional balancing, competence, integrity and gender in picking suitable Board members,” Nyaribo said.

Nyaribo challenged the members to remain above board while discharging their duties and to firmly resist any attempts to influence recruitment processes.

“Be firm while handling disciplinary cases of civil servants. I know you are up to the task ahead of you,” he said. “I expect that you will handle civil servants with a lot of professionalism.”

Acknowledging the huge backlog awaiting the team, Nyaribo urged the new board to burn the midnight oil to ensure the pending work is cleared quickly, thereby guaranteeing efficient service delivery to the people of Nyamira.

Those who took the oath of office include the board’s Chair, Ambassador Jackline Moraa Kenani, and the CEO, Bilah Bochaberi George. The other board members are Dr. Zablon Ayiera, CPA Geoffrey Bongoye, and Mr. Charles Maugo.

In her address, Board Chair Jackline Moraa thanked the governor for giving them the opportunity to serve.

She promised that the board would work collaboratively with other arms of the county government to serve the residents of Nyamira effectively.

“As we begin this new chapter, I wish to acknowledge and appreciate the chairpersons, members and staff of the previous County Public Service Boards who have served Nyamira County since the advent devolution,” Ms. Moraa said.

She noted that previous boards laid the foundations upon which the current board stands today and will stand in the future.

“Our task is to build on these foundations, strengthen what works, improve where necessary and leave the CPSB stronger than we found it,” she emphasized.

She assured the people of Nyamira that she and her team would discharge their duties faithfully, impartially, and in strict adherence to the Constitution and the laws of Kenya.

“We will serve this County all residents of this County without favour, discrimination or prejudice,” she promised.

Furthermore, she emphasized that the new board is committed to fostering constructive working relationships with all county institutions, noting that effective service delivery depends on cooperation, mutual respect, and a shared commitment to the public good.

“I therefore look forward to working closely with the Office of the Governor, County Executive, the County Assembly and oversight institutions and all stakeholders in advancing the development of the county,” she concluded.

According to the Constitution of Kenya, the chairperson and board members will serve a non-renewable, fixed term of six years.

The ceremony was also witnessed by County Secretary Jacky Magara, County Attorney Erastus Orina, and other top members of the County Executive.
