North Mugirango MP Joash Nyamoko has officially opened the new Magwagwa Assistant County Commissioner’s (ACC) offices during a colorful ceremony in Magwagwa.

The new, modern division headquarters, funded by the National Government Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF), will house offices for the ACC, Chief, Assistant Chief, Registrar of Persons, and Ministry of Education. It also features an ICT hub and a boardroom.

“We built the division headquarters to bring government services closer to the people who elected us to represent them,” Nyamoko announced.

He emphasized his commitment to enhancing service delivery in North Mugirango by creating a conducive environment for both government officers and the public.

“Now our youths can easily get their national identification cards from the new office instead of traveling to Ekerenyo or Nyamira,” he added.

The new offices also feature an ICT hub with free internet services for young people to use for online applications and work.

Nyamoko said the hub is fully furnished and computers will soon be delivered, allowing youths to work on assignments and other tasks instead of idling around or spending money at cyber cafes.

The MP also announced plans to build four more ICT hubs at the North Mugirango CDF offices in Ekerenyo, Itibo, Bomwagamo, and Bokeira, bringing the total to five across the constituency.

During the event, Nyamoko publicly criticized the Registrar of Persons after area MCA Abel Mokaya claimed that people were being charged KSh. 300 for ID applications.

Nyamoko clarified that the president has scrapped the fee for first-time applicants, making the service free.

“If you are paying the fee, then it is illegal and against the spirit of service delivery of the government,” he stated.

The MP also promised to drill a borehole at the new offices to ensure a continuous water supply, with the project slated to begin soon.

He urged other leaders to serve their constituents diligently, criticizing those who engage in political infighting.

“I urge the county leadership to focus on development instead of engaging in political fights to the disadvantage of the people who voted for you,” he said.

He faulted leaders in the Gusii region for playing “dirty politics” and causing delays to government projects, including the planned Nyamira State University at Kiabonyoru.

Mr. Nyamoko also announced that he has put his gubernatorial ambitions on hold to focus on serving his constituents in parliament.

“I had planned to run for the position of governor, but after thorough consultations, I put it on hold because Governor Amos Nyaribo is my brother,” he explained.

The MP said he would support Governor Nyaribo if he focuses on serving the people.

Magwagwa ACC Moses Olesinti welcomed the new offices, stating that he had been operating from a rented space.

He praised the project for consolidating government services under one roof, making them more accessible to the public.

“Now those who have been traveling to Ekerenyo for some services will now access them in our new offices,” he said.

Olesinti  also requested the MP to consider building residential housing for the ACC, OCS, and police officers.

The event was attended by area MCA Abel Mokaya, nominated MCA Doris Nyamanga, and Nyamira County Deputy County Commissioner Simon Osumba.

“It shows your dedication and love to me, which I do not take for granted,” he concluded.
