Nyamira County gubernatorial aspirants have encouraged the youth in the county to press on despite the hard times they are currently facing.

Speaking at Nyambaria High Boys on Monday, April 14th, during the opening ceremony of the Nyamira Conference Youth Bible Conference, Chanua stated that Nyamira County stands in need of role models and inspirations who can serve as guiding lights for its youth.

“They (models) exemplify the values, virtues, and achievements that young individuals aspire to in their own lives,” he said.

He further explained that role models are living examples of what can be achieved through dedication, perseverance, and a commitment to positive values.

Chanua, who is seeking to unseat Governor Nyaribo, has created significant interest in the county with his entry into the top seat race.

Chanua donated 20 crates of eggs to the delegates attending the Congress to boost their breakfast meals.

The eggs, which were delivered today, April 17th, by his team led by Kefa Moenga, were received at the school by the Nyamira Conference’s Director of Youth, Pr. George Ondieki.

“I have come here to pay the debt that Chanua promised here when the congress was starting,” said Moenga. “I am handing over the 20 crates as promised.”

Moenga stated that Chanua understands the strength of the youth, who comprise the majority of Gen Z, and that they will be incorporated into his government once he takes over the county leadership in 2027.

“He has promised to have a Gen Z as an Executive Committee Member in his government,” he announced.

Meanwhile, another aspirant, James Kemoni, who also visited the youths at the ongoing Conference, urged them not to give up when things get tough.

“There is no bigger mistake than giving up in life. We need to press on and focus on the bigger picture that awaits us in the future,” he encouraged them.

He added that if elected, he will ensure the inclusion of youths in his government and factor in their ideas to build a youth-friendly administration.

The annual Bible Congress, which draws youths from all Adventist churches within the Nyamira Conference territory and runs through Saturday, features spiritual nourishment, empowerment, and self-reliance initiatives.

More than 1300 Adventist youths are attending the weeklong Bible Congress that will conclude on Saturday.
