Ministry of Education says Tabasamu School is not duly registered.

The ministry of education has confirmed that Tabasamu School is not duly registered in accordance with the Ministry’s regulations.

In a letter dated February 23, 2023, addressed to Elkana Mogaka Advocates, the Msambweni Sub-County Director of Education, Abraham Nyamawi confirmed the status, saying the school is “yet to meet the minimum requirements to facilitate the process.”

The legal firm had sought to know the status of the school’s registration after Sara Were took the proprietor of the school to court over the usage of her school’s legal images to solicit funds from donors at the expense of her school.

The legal firm has also written to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in Kwale to help the court confirm if Tabasamu School is legally registered.

“Kindly but urgently give us confirm if the school herein is dutiful and legally registered as an institution of learning with the Government of Kenya and Ministry of Education to assist the Honorable Court make appropriate directions,” read part of the letter to the DCI.

Meanwhile, the court has extended the orders it had given earlier to March 18 when the in-person hearing will be done.

The respondents were granted 14 days to file any and all documents they shall rely on.
