Statistician Officer II – Governor Office Ref: MCPSB/02/2023/005

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Management of a specific economic sector or an area of statistical activity;
  • Drawing up survey questionnaires and setting up control procedures for receiving returns and taking the necessary action;
  • Collection, collation, computerization and analysis of data;
  • Writing and submitting reports on specific assignments; and
  • Direction and supervision of technical and other supporting staff.

Requirement for Appointment

For appointment to this grade a candidate must be in possession of: –

  • A minimum of an Upper Second-Class Honours degree in Economics, or Economics and Mathematics, or Economies and Statistics from a recognized university/institution; or
  • A minimum of an Upper Second-Class Honours degree in any of the subjects enumerated at (1) above with a bias towards Computer Science, Operations Research, Survey Techniques and Demographic Techniques from a recognized university/institution;

OR

  • A minimum of an Upper Second-Class Honours degree in Statistics with appropriate specialization from a recognized university/institution; or
  • A postgraduate Bachelor of Philosophy degree in Economics from the University of Nairobi or equivalent institution or a post graduate diploma or Masters degree in subjects enumerated at (i)-(iii) above.

Housekeeping Assistant I – Governor Office Ref: MCPSB/02/2023/012

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Overseeing the cleanliness and maintenance of rooms
  • Care and maintenance of furnishings, equipment and linen
  • Reporting any defects in the guest rooms to the supervisor
  • Ensuring that proper work procedures are followed when handling guest laundry; and
  • Filling in the occurrence book as required.

For appointment to this grade, an officer must:

  • Be in possession of the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education with a mean grade ‘C’ (minus); and

Human Resource Management Assistant III – Governor Office Ref: MCPSB/02/2023/011

Duties and Responsibilities

Specific duties and responsibilities will include information gathering on topical issues within the Department, verifying its authenticity, editing and dispatching the information for dissemination to the public and media under the guidance of a senior officer.

Requirements for Appointment

For appointment to this grade, an officer must;

  • Have Kenya Certificate of Education (KCSE) mean grade C with a minimum of C+ in English or Kiswahili and C in any other relevant subjects or its approved equivalent qualification;

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assigning daily duties; coordinating food and beverage services; and making reservations in the food service areas;
  • Giving timely direction on reserved tables and conference rooms;
  • Ensuring proper and timely setting-up of out station service points;
  • Ensuring replenishing of conference rooms as required;
  • Ensuring the environment within the service area is clean and comfortable for guests; and
  • Handling guest complaints or requests during service.

Assistant Director – eGovernment – Governor Office MCPSB/02/2023/001

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Analyzing information on programmes, significant events and impact on the customers in a specific sectoral area;
  • Researching on possible causes of negative publicity on the Government on both local and international press and assisting in the development of appropriate strategies to address the situation;
  • Identifying Government events that require packaging for dissemination to the media and the public; and
  • Preparing and organizing fora where Government policies, programmes and projects can be propagated and promoted
  • In addition, the officer will prepare media supplements, documentaries, press releases/media features; and regularly attend meetings at the Public Communications Office to deliberate on cross cutting issues that require to be centrally disseminated by the Office of Public Communications.

  • Have served in the grade of Principal Public Communications Officer or in a comparable and relevant position for a minimum period of three (3) years;
  • Have a bachelor’s degree in any of the following disciplines: Mass Communication, Public Relations, Communications Studies, Journalism, International Relations, Social Sciences or any other approved equivalent qualifications from a recognized institution;

Public Communications Officer II – Governor Office – 2 Positions Ref: MCPSB/02/2023/016

Duties and Responsibilities

This will be the entry and training grade for degree holders. An officer at this level will be deployed in a ministry/Department or in public communications office. Specific duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Gathering information on existing programmes, significant events and the impact on customers and forwarding the same to the head of department for dissemination.
  • Work will further entail liaising with media practitioners and public on issues of mutual concern under the guidance of a senior officer.

  • For direct appointment to this grade, a candidate must:

Public Communications Officer I – Governor Office – 16 Positions Ref: MCPSB/02/2023/015

Duties and Responsibilities

An officer at this level may be deployed at the ministry headquarters or in a public communications office. Duties and responsibilities at this level will entail gathering information on programmes and significant events, editing stories on topical issues in a specific sectoral area, liaising with media practitioners and the public on issues of mutual concern, scheduling interviews with government officials and managing assigned projects and programmes under the guidance of the head of the unit/section.

Requirements for Appointment

For appointment to this grade, an officer must:

  • Have served in the grade of public communications officers II or in a comparable and relevant position in the public service for a minimum period of three(3) years;
  • Have a post graduate diploma in any of the following disciplines, in the case of holders of general social science degrees: mass communications, communication studies, public relations, journalism, international relations or its equivalent and relevant qualification from a recognised institution/university; and
  • Possess good oral and written communication skills in both English and Kiswahili;
  • Be proficient in information communication and technology including use of internet and intranet services; and
  • Have shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.

Assistant Housekeeper – Governor Office – 2 Positions Ref:  CPSB/02/2023/009

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Keeping proper records of sundry and linen stores
  • Supervision of staff
  • Following up on maintenance work order forms
  • Assisting in stock taking; ordering, receiving, storing and issuing of cleaning materials
  • Carrying out on the job training for staff working under him/her; and

Principal Public Communications Officer – Governor Office – 3 Positions Ref: MCPSB/02/2023/003

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Gathering information on programmes, significant events in a specific sectoral area and the impact on customers, and forwarding the same to the head of Public Communications Unit for dissemination;Assisting in the development of communications and media strategy;
  • Editing stories on various topical issues before they are released to the public and liaising with media practitioners and the public on issues of mutual concern.
  • In addition, the officer will be responsible for scheduling interviews with Government officials; managing assigned projects/programmes, and organizing events under the guidance of the head of the Public Communications Unit.

Requirements for Appointment

For appointment to this grade, an officer must:

  • Have served in the grade of Senior Public Communications Officer or in a comparable and relevant position for a minimum period of three (3) years;

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Collecting statistical records
  • Carrying out transactions related to accounts or personnel information

Administration Officer III – Governor Office – 3 Positions Ref: MCPSB/02/2023/007

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Planning of office accommodation and layout;
  • Facilitating transport and travelling services;
  • Maintaining and updating furniture and office equipment inventory;
  • Ensuring payment of utility bills;
  • Facilitating movement of assets:
  • Facilitating general maintenance of buildings and furniture; and
  • Facilitating logistics for meetings, conferences and other special events.
  • Collecting and collating data on developmental activities; and
  • Providing input in organizing public participation awareness at the local level;

Requirements for Appointment

For appointment to this grade, an officer must have: –

  • Diploma in any of the following disciplines: – Public Administration; Business Administration/Management, Community Development or any other Social Science from a recognized institution; and

Chief Driver – Governor Office – 4 Positions Ref: MCPSB/02/2023/008

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Driving the assigned vehicle
  • Carrying out routine checks on the vehicle’s cooling, oil, electrical, tyre pressure and brake systems, etc.
  • Detecting and reporting malfunctioning of the vehicle systems; maintenance of work ticket(s) for vehicle(s) assigned
  • Ensuring security and safety of the vehicle on and off the road
  • Overseeing safety of the passengers and/or goods therein; and
  • Maintaining cleanliness of the vehicle(s)
  • In addition, the officer may be required to supervise and guide staff in a small transport unit.

Requirements for Appointment

For appointment to this grade, an officer must;

  • Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education mean grade D plain or its equivalent qualification from a recognized Institution;

passed Occupational Trade Test I for Drivers;

  • A valid driving license free from any current endorsement(s) for class(es) of vehicle(s) the officer is required to drive;
  • Defensive Driving Certificate from the Automobile Association (AA) of Kenya or its equivalent qualification from a recognized Institution;

attended a Refresher Course for drivers lasting not less than one (1) week within every three (3) years at Kenya Institute of Highway and Building Technology (KIHBT) or any other recognized Institution;

  • Completing duties mutually agreed upon and assigned by the supervisors;
  • Documenting relevant skills acquired; and
  • Actively participating in any relevant mentorship activities and additional responsibilities designed for the programme.

Requirements for Appointment

  • Be in possession of a Bachelors degree in any of the following disciplines: Mass Communication, Communication Studies, Journalism, Public Relations, Social Sciences or any other approved equivalent qualifications from a recognized University/Institution;

Duties and Responsibilities
