West Mugirango Constituency’s Bondeni–Magombo Road will finally be upgraded to bitumen standard after decades of waiting.
This was revealed yesterday by area Member of Parliament Stephen Mogaka while addressing Seventh-day Adventists at Makairo Camp Centre in Bogichora Ward.
Mogaka, who has consistently made requests to President William Ruto to upgrade the road, said the project will now be implemented.
“Within ten days, this project will commence, and I urge my residents along this road to cut down their trees and remove other assets erected on the road reserve to pave the way for the project,” he announced.
The MP said the constituency had for a long time been neglected by successive governments, but the current administration had considered West Mugirango.
“From the Kenyatta government to the Kenyatta government, West Mugirango has not benefited fully like other constituencies until the Ruto government,” Mogaka said. “President Ruto has awarded the people of West Mugirango to make them feel part of the government.”
In a letter seen by Tidal Wave News, dated August 12, 2026, the Kenya Rural Roads Authority (KeRRA) ordered the contractor to commence works within 28 days of the date of the letter.
“By a copy of this letter, the Resident Engineer is instructed to give you possession of the site or sections thereof, as appropriate, and issue necessary instructions,” the letter reads.
The contractor, Tosha Holdings Limited, is expected to start the project within ten days to comply with the order issued by KeRRA’s Director of Roads and Development, Enock Ariga.
The order also includes the upgrading of the Tombe–Isinta–Mkomoni Road, Riamoni–Esani–Machururiati–Nyangori Road, and access roads to Nyabogoye Primary School.
This comes after aspiring MPs in West Mugirango accused Mogaka of lying about the road project for more than a year, saying his support for President Ruto had yielded little for the constituency.
Mogaka, however, has consistently dismissed the claims, saying President Ruto means well for the people of West Mugirango.
“The former MP was Ruto’s ally, and he campaigned for him in the last general elections, while I was campaigning for Azimio la Umoja and Jubilee,” he said.
He further indicated that he joined the government because the people of West Mugirango could only receive development by working with Ruto.
“Those making noise that I have joined the government are clueless because the Bondeni–Magombo Road has been a thorn in the flesh for a long time, making my people suffer,” he said.
He vowed to continue working closely with President Ruto for the benefit of the people of West Mugirango and to ensure the completion of ongoing projects in the constituency.
“Why do they (his opponents) want me to stop working with President Ruto, who has awarded me several projects in West Mugirango?” he asked.
