West Mugirango MP Stephen Mogaka has called out former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, saying he was given the power to serve as Kenya’s Deputy President but misused his position.
Speaking in Bosiango during the investiture of the newly appointed Assistant Chief, Stellah Keragia, this morning, Mogaka said Gachagua was given power but started undermining the nation and was subsequently told to go home.
“Home is not the media stations you address us from. You have been impeached, totally impeached. Give us a break,” Mogaka told Gachagua.
He told Gachagua that he is a one-term MP and a quarter-term Deputy President who was stripped of power and cannot serve from the trees.
“You will leave with the shame of trying to exclude other Kenyans from Kenya because Mt Kenya is within the Republic of Kenya,” he said.
He told residents of Mt Kenya not to be intimidated, saying the Government of Kenya would protect and stand for them.
He also invited other leaders to contribute to nation-building instead of trying to bring the country to its knees.
“I am asking leaders who have ideas on how Kenya should be managed to join hands with the current government to take the country in the direction it is going,” he said.
Mogaka opined that leaders opposed to the current government should give it time to take Kenya to its destination, as decided by the people of Kenya.
On his political stand, he said he would not leave the broad-based government, quoting the late Simeon Nyachae, who said that once you are in government, you should never leave it.
“The late Nyachae warned Abagusii not to disembark from a moving vehicle (government), as other leaders are telling them to, instead of staying to tap government projects,” Mogaka said.
He called those telling people not to support the current government peddlers of lies who want to isolate the Abagusii community from the government.
He told residents of Bogichora Ward to support the Ruto administration until 2027, when they can decide which vehicle they want to embark on.
“We will alight in 2027 if we get a new vehicle, which I do not see, so that we can be in the next government to continue benefiting even more from development projects,” he told the people.
Mogaka congratulated the new Assistant Chief, Stella Keragia, on her investiture, saying she deserved the appointment. He asked her to serve diligently and uphold the Constitution as a local leader.
He told the chiefs and assistant chiefs present to work hard and ensure their conduct was blameless so that they could earn promotions as they pursue career growth.
Mogaka asked the Deputy County Commissioner (DCC), Florence Obunga, to fast-track the operationalisation of administrative units that had been gazetted but were not yet operational.
“Madam DCC, there are other locations that were gazetted back in 2017 but have not been operationalised. They need to be activated because the areas mapped are large and need division to bring government services closer to the citizens,” he said.
He, however, said he was pursuing the operationalisation of Charachani Location, which he said would be operationalised soon.
The event was presided over by Nyamira DCC Florence Obunga and attended by Nyamira South administration and security agencies.
